Outline
A combination between Carpool karaoke and Cash cab. The presenter will be driving the car, 4 different contestants will take part - all of different ages and sex's & therefore with varied opinions. Its a style of game-show so will have rules which will be presented at the beginning of the show. Multiple questions will then be asked and the answers of all of the contestants will be shown. Money is up for grabs asleep, every answer that is answered correctly will gain the subject £10. The person with the largest sum of money at the end of the show wins overall. If they get more than 2 questions incorrect then they are 'out' and asked to leave the car, without any of their winnings.
Character breakdown
As this is a game-show and therefore non-fiction, there isn't any characters as such but people. They don't have to act or behave a certain way like a character would, I just want their own personality to show. If all goes to plan then there will be 2 Male and 2 Female contestants.
The presenter will be me. A 18 year old female.
Visual
As this is a multi-camera shoot there will be 3 cameras filming inside of the car. The main camera which will capture both subjects will be placed at the mid-bottom of the windscreen. The other two will be on either sides of the windows, getting a closer profile and different angle of both of the people.
Lighting
Due to the fact this project will be shot in a car, there is no real way to add lighting / light it well. The only thing that is important when it comes to lighting is the time of day that it is shot in. I will try and plan ahead and film on sunnier days so they light up the subjects faces well, at around 11am will be a perfect time due to the sun not glaring but also no setting like it would be at 4:30pm.
Movement
As the GoPros are attached to the windscreen using a suction pad there will be no movement of the cameras. There will also be minimal movement of the driver and passenger as they will be strapped in to the car.
Editing
Editing will be the biggest challenge for me as it will consist of multiple pieces of footage from 3 different cameras. On top of that I will have to sync the audio with the footage as I am recording it separately due to the GoPro's not having the best audio. The final edit will switch in between cameras frequently to give it the same look as Carpool Karaoke. Depending on my timing and how long the edit takes me I also would like to add graphics to the bottom of the screen. For example when someone wins £10 by answering correctly there is a little tally in the bottom corner of how much money they have earned.
Setting
The setting for this project will be in my car, a 09 plate VW Golf.
Actors
The 'main actor' will be the presenter who is ME! There will be 4 other 'actors' who are slightly different ages and different sexes too - I want it to appeal to all types of people so switch up the 'actors' will help this.
Props
No props will be used in this video as it is more a talk show and not a game show.
Costumes
No costumes will be used - I have just asked the people who are participating to wear their own clothes as its a casual and informal style show.
Audio
For the audio I will be using A zoom mic and 2 x Tie mics. I felt as if this would be the best way to capture audio in the car without hearing the cars engine too much. It also makes out voices a lot clearer because unlike a shotgun mic, it is close to the mouth so will get that audio better.
Rationale
I chose this idea because I think it best suits me. The majority of multi-camera shoots are based around game shows or cooking shows etc and it is very rare that I watch anything like that. I also didn't like the thought of filming in a studio as I didn't feel I cold be creative enough
Primary and Secondary
For my Primary and Secondary research I complete a survey and asked the public to fill it in, I also analysed many TV programmes to do with my topic and gained numerous ideas from them. I've also looked into other peoples opinions on the shows e.g. delving into YouTube comments and looking at reviews on the internet.
Requirements
My 'cast and crew' will be made up of me a 4 other special guests. 2 or 3 GoPros will be used to record the game show / talk show, a zoom mic and 2 x tie pics will be recording the sound as GoPros don't capture sound as well as the pics will. My location will be my car as said before. There should not be any problems with issues to do with access as I will not be driving along and private roads and will stick to places / roads that I am comfortable with and know are public.
Legal and ethical restrictions
The only legal restriction that I feel I may come across is if I decide to include music, it depends on the style of music and the artist but the majority of songs have been copyrighted. I have lightly read into this and found that on YouTube

SURVEY
This is my planning for my survey questions. I like to write things down and test them before producing them properly as it allows room for mistakes and changes.
Recce
This is a birds eye view of my car. The man reason for a location recce is to see if your 'location' is safe so to speak. So my car is a safe place for me to film but it may have a few problems. Cameras may shake whilst I'm driving and the footage could be blurry - the sound of the car may over power the voices etc. This recce form will helpmeet decide these things and make sure everything is as its supposed to be.
Risk Assessment
A risk assessment is completed so the main risks can be identified and either prevented or avoided.
As you can see below I thought of many risks that could occur in filming my project, the severity of the and how I would prevent them, although all of them could happen, the likeliness is slim but I will still be following all precautions to ensure they do not occur.
Location Recce
This is the location recce. As you can see I have not added a screenshot or a picture of the location, this is due to my location of filming being a car and it will be moving - meaning there is no main location for my filming. However, I have added information about the amount of cameras and pics I need, the hazards and noise issues. This is helpful for me to refer back to when it comes to my production as it will guide me to avoid the hazards / disruptions.
Story board
Although very basic as my drawing skills are questionable, this story board shows the angles I will be filming at. There will be cut-aways of the car in-between shots as shown in the first 2 drawings, from the rear and front of the car. The second two images show the driver in the car and then the guest afterwards. There will be a few seconds of the driver one their own before the guest gets into the car. As this is being filmed in a very confined space I have struggle with production documents as there is very little that I can describe / draw. Yet they have still helped me as I am constantly referring to them to make sure the production is as good as it can be.
Equipment Checklist
This is vital when it comes to me hiring out my equipment that I need to use, without this I really do think that I could have easily forgotten something and therefore wouldn't have been able to film my project when I wanted to.
CAMERA SET-UP
This is the planned set up of the cameras in the car. The main camera which will capture both the driver and the passenger is placed in the middle of the windscreen, the shot will be a wide shot. Cameras 2 and 3 will capture the side profiles / a zoomed in version of their faces which will encapsulate facial expressions. I designed this to refer back to through out the set up of my LIVE project as
PRACTICLE TIMETABLE
I felt as if drawing / writing a rough timetable for my filming would help me when it came to setting up and remembering what I needed / who I was filming. I wanted to draw the diagrams of where the cameras were being placed so I could make sure I trailed every angle possible for the GoPros so I could settle on the best ones.
This planning page is really taking shape... A confident approach to your multi-camera piece. Don't forget to take photos to evidence your shoot on the production page and changes that occurred that were unforeseen on the day of the shoot.
ReplyDeleteThis is really good - there is lots of planning documents which should really help you carry out your production. Make sure you include details about sound e.g. sound list and lighting. Also include assets list.
